ABOUT US

The Dog Park is owned and operated by Bern Abplanalp. Bern started working with dogs many years ago through animal rescue. He has saved more than 50 dogs as a foster home for rescue groups. Bern's training experience began with these rescue dogs as he worked to better prepare them for their adoptive families.

In addition to training dogs, Bern has managed a large boarding and training kennel in the Austin area where he also managed a team of dog trainers and taught classes at a dog training school.

Prior to moving into the pet industry, Bern spent the first 12 years of his career working as a senior business and training director in the high tech consulting field. Bern has been able to parlay his extensive business, training, and customer experience into The Dog Park through exceptional customer service and intuitive, collaborative training methods.

Bern lives in Austin with his wife and their two 4-legged fuzzy children, Crash and Boom. Crash and Boom are rescued All-American mutts who frequently play welcoming committee to the various needy dogs that Bern and his wife foster for rescue organizations.
